Projects from the past week....

I have been really busy with the kiddos lately but, I have tried to squeeze in a few projects during naps and after bedtime. Here are a few things that I'm working on:

My hubby plays electric guitar on the worship team at our church and recently purchased a new amp and speaker cabinet. Unfortunately for me, they didn't come with covers!
He asked me to make him covers!! What???!!!
I am not that great with the sewing machine & I was a little worried!
I'm trying to teach myself but, I get a little frustrated with it.
I let him pick out the fabric and I went for it.....

They didn't turn out too bad.
They aren't perfect and are by no means fancy but, they do their job.

Anything for you Hunny! :)

Another project that I just finished are some letters for my sister & brother-in-law.
They just moved into their new house and I thought these would be a fun house warming gift!
(Yes, I do realize that the H is upside down in these pictures. Ooooops!)

I haven't given them to her yet so this is the only glimpse of the colors that you get! :)

Master Bedroom Redecorating Project Update:
(Wow! That was a mouth full!)

I purchased these pretty little peacocks on Etsy and they have found the perfect place to perch themselves! Right above my fireplace!
(Still need to finish applying those guys.)

And....look what else has found a home in my bedroom......
A new headboard!! Is it possible?? Do we actually have a grown up's bed in our room??
Just a little glimpse for now. I'll show more later...

That's it for now!
I have some new projects that I plan to start on soon.
Until then....
Have a Blessed Day!!

Coffee Sugar Cookies

I recently came across this recipe for Coffee Sugar Cookies and knew that they would be something I needed to attempt!!
I am so glad I did!
YU-MMY!!
They are cookies with coffee built in!!
What more could you ask for?
I decided against frosting mine because I wasn't looking for anything too sweet.
Please check out Amanda's blog for some amazing frosting ideas!
The only change I made was using a vanilla flavored coffee and a little less cinnamon.
They are perfect for nibbling on with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa!

Here is my finished product:

Why not just hang them right off your coffee cup?

Bedroom Makeover

As I mentioned before, I am in the middle of redecorating our Master Bedroom. I never did anything with our bedroom at our old house. I've made it a point to give all of our kids a special place of their own. A room that they will enjoy being in. They all have nice paint jobs and a theme but, our sad room has remained white walled and plain. Well, that will not be the case for much longer! I am on a mission!! My goal is to transform our room into a relaxing & romantic retreat. Here is a little sneak peek at our new wall color and some other items and colors that will be incorporated into the room. I'll continue to give you guys little peeks here & there throughout the process and then do a Big Reveal at the end. Until then, this is all you get:

First Tutorial

Hello Everyone!
This is my first official post & tutorial on this blog.
I've found myself being in a rather crafty mood lately and thought it might be fun to have a blog dedicated to this sudden craftiness. I have two little ones that I stay home with so most of my projects are worked on during naptime or after bed. I'm not sure what to tell you to expect from this blog. ??? Perhaps a crafting tutorial here and there, a little decorating, maybe some re-decorating, and why not throw in a few recipes every once in a while?
All while I sip on a nice little cup of coffee!

With that being said.....
Let's get on with the tutorial.
I know there are tons of tutorials on these Decoupaged Letters but, I thought it would be a good tutorial to start with. Besides, this is my blog and I can do whatever I want :)

Step #1
Pick out a word!
I chose love because I am in the process of re-decorating our Master Bedroom and wanted something pretty for my bookshelf.

Supplies:
Letters (cardboard or wood)
Scrapbook paper
Mod Podge
Sponge applicator/brush
Sandpaper/file
Distress Ink

Step #2
Trace your letter on the back of your scrapbooking paper.

Step #3
Cut out letter.
(So far not too difficult. Right?)

Step #4
Spread a nice layer of Mod Podge on the front of your cardboard letter and carefully place your paper cut out over it. Smooth out any bubbles.

Step #5
Distress the edges of your paper with sandpaper or a file.
(Don't worry...This file has never touched my foot and will never touch my foot! I use it for crafts only! I personally like it better than sandpaper.)

Here is what your letters will look like at this point.
(You could stop here if you wanted a shabby-look.)

I was going for more of a distressed look and busted out the Distress Ink
(This stuff is totally my new Best Friend!)

Step #6
Rub Distress Ink on edges of letters.
I used a make-up sponge to do this and it worked great!
(My original plan was to cover the entire letter with paper but, I loved the look that the Distress Ink gave the cardboard and decided to use it on the sides of the letters as well.)

How cool does that look?

Step #7 (optional)
Cover letters with a coat of Mod Podge to seal them.
I suggest waiting for the Ink to completely dry before applying the Mod Podge to prevent smearing.
(This was really scary! I thought I ruined them for sure! It looks cloudy as it goes on but, will dry clear. Don't be scared!)

Voila!
The finished project sitting nice and pretty on my Bookshelf...
