New Projects!!!

Project #1

Life has been a bit crazy lately but, I have been able to squeeze in a few projects here and there. I've been seeing these beautiful wreaths made out of book pages and sheet music and have fallen in love with them!! I had to make one!! I used THIS tutorial as my guide.

Here is mine:

I decided to add a touch of burlap and a star fish in the center.

I used Distress Ink to add a few years to the pages.

I have a ton of coral that my parents have picked up for me on their trips to Cambria. I love how this piece looks next to the wreath:

I was also inspired to make a little something to go along with my wreath but, it's not quite ready to be revealed! :)

Project #2

This past weekend I had a Baby Shower to go to for my friend Michelle. She is due to have a sweet baby boy in just a few weeks now. I asked her if she would like me to make her some LETTERS for Hudson's room and she said, "Yes! Please."

Here they are:

I love making these!!

I think the O was my favorite!

I threw them all in this cute reusable bag that I picked up from Jo-ann Crafts:

Project #3

When we make trips up to Morro Bay we always stop by this amazing little SHOP that carries the best reed diffusers that I have ever found!! Eventually they run dry and I hate to throw them away. So I decided to try and salvage them.

Here is how they look when I buy them from the store:

Here is what I came up with:

For this first one I added a piece of green SBP to the back with some Mod Podge.
I just painted a small layer on one side of the glass and placed the SBP with the right side facing the glass so it would show through the other side. Does that make sense? I also added a few small shells and some new oil. I had some green reeds that I dug out of some old potpourri and decided to throw them in with the plain reeds for some extra color.
Not too Shabby!!

You can see the SBP a little better in this shot:

For the second one I used a different bottle that I had laying around.

I tied a little raffia around the top....

And threw in some sea glass and a few small white shells.

Viola!!
Recycled Reed Diffusers! :)

In case you are wondering....
I didn't make my own oil (though that is on my list of things that I want to explore with). I purchased the oil from Lemongrass Spa. I am a rep for the company and love, love, love all of their products. I don't really do parties anymore but, have a few loyal customers that I place orders for. Check them out! You can also purchase the diffusers already made up! Their oil lasts a lot longer than others found in the stores.

Well.... That's it for today!

Until next time....

Have a Blessed day!!

Train Cake

My sweet baby boy turned 3 today!!
I can't believe it!!
He absolutely adores trains
and asked me to make him a train cake.
We decided to try and celebrate yesterday.

Here are a few pics:

Shortly after lighting this bad boy up.......

And blowing out the candles......

My little man started throwing up :(
(no, not from the cake!!)

He ended up catching the yucky stomach bug that I had on Thursday & Friday.
Poor guy! :(
Not a fun way to celebrate your birthday.
He's napping now and I am just praying that he will wake up feeling all better.

Until next time....
Have a Blessed Day!!

Throw Pillow For New Bed........Check.

Not too long ago I purchased a new bed for my bedroom.
I had the bedding for it but, no throw pillow. I was thinking about going out and just buying one. Then, I remembered that I had some leftover felt from another project that I could probably incorporate into the room. So I went searching for ideas. I wanted something fun. Like THIS or THIS or maybe something like THIS.

I decided that I liked the THIRD pillow best. So I decided to just go for it. I am not the best with sewing but, I am actually pleased with the way it turned out. It did take me a bit of time but, the end results are just what I was looking for.

Here is my question:
Do I need a second one?? Maybe a smaller size, square, and in a fun POP color??
Any Suggestions??

Birdhouse Transformation

I had a birdhouse in my backyard that had seen better days.
Rather than just toss it in the trash I thought I would try to turn it into a little art piece for my bedroom.
I took the two faces off, threw on a coat of black paint, distressed the edges a bit, and added some black and white damask ribbon to hang them by.

Viola!!
Instant wall art!!
All I had to buy was the ribbon. I had the black paint left over from other projects.

I love the way the black pops out from the blue walls!!

And I am loving that ribbon!!

More projects coming soon!!
Until then....
Have a Blessed Day!! :)

Stay Tuned......

Lots of new projects in the works!!

Master Bedroom Update

I'm still in the process of redecorating my Master Bedroom.
I'm sure it will be a long process!! It just never seems finished!!
I had a gift card for Pier 1 to use up and had a chance to stop by the other day.
I was planning to purchase a Peacock feather wreath that I have had my eye on forever but, of course, they no longer have them! Why did I wait so long??? Looks like I may have to attempt to make one myself. Wish me luck! :)

I ended up finding.....

This really pretty Peacock picture frame.

And this basket/vase for one of my corners.
I needed something to fill in the empty space.
My Mom had these lighted branches that she wasn't using and passed them on to me.
I love the way it turned out!!

The rustic details in the basket are amazing!!
I love that store!!

I have a few more projects that I'm working on for the room and will hopefully have something to show you all soon!

Until then....
Have a Blessed Day!!

What's been cookin'???

I have been in such a mood to cook lately!
I usually get like this around any holiday.
The April issue of Better Homes and Gardens has some fabulous recipes!!

I started out by trying the Cinnamon Roasted Chicken with Pumpkin-Sage Grits.

I actually really loved it!! The chicken was really moist and the flavor of the grits was amazing!! I think it was a little too "out there" for my hubby.
Here are my results:

Next, I made the Whole Wheat Chocolate-Blueberry Cake.

My process:

My results:

This was a really yummy cake!
I also served it with a Blueberry Sauce that they suggested.
I had dinner guests that night and everyone loved it!

I also made a couple loaves of THIS bread with my leftover pumpkin.
One for my house and a second to give to my parents as a "Thank You" for watching the kiddos.
My kids devoured this bread!!

I have a recipe or two that I will be trying out for Easter this Sunday.
I hope you all have a Blessed Easter!
